Carol Fischer Huggins, age 94, of Toms River, NJ passed away on Wednesday June 5, 2019 at her residence with her family. Carol was born April 21, 1925 in Providence, RI. Carol was a resident of Spring Lake and Wayside, NJ before moving to Toms River in 1988.
Carol attended Brookdale Community College prior to her career as a civilian employee for Fort Monmouth, from which, she retired after over 20 years of service. She was a devoted family care giver who never hesitated to give freely of herself. She was a "Daughter of the American Revolution." Carol was active in her retirement at Greenbriar Woodlands where she participated in the Golf Club, Briartones chorus, Bridge Club, and the Community Watch. She served as Block Captain at Greenbriar. She enjoyed sailing and traveling with her husband.
Mother of the late Christopher Huggins; sister of the late Mignon Brier; she is survived by her beloved husband 72 years, Martin; a son, Brian M. Huggins; her siblings, Joyce Barkalow and Claire Francey; two grandchildren, Amiko Donegan and her husband James and Anthony Huggins; two great-grandchildren, Damion Huggins and Madison Borbotko; and two step-great-grandchildren, Paige and Kayla.
Visitation will be on Sunday, June 9, 2019 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the D'Elia Funeral Home, 1300 Vermont Avenue, Lakewood, NJ 08701. There will be a eulogy offered at the conclusion of the visitation. Burial will be private at Monmouth Memorial Park.
