Agnes "Betty" Elizabeth Mahoney

Agnes "Betty" Elizabeth Mahoney (nee Sales), 90, formerly of Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey, Normandy Beach NJ, and Naples Florida, passed away on Friday, July 31, 2020 in Lakewood, NJ. Born in Jersey City, New Jersey on August 28, 1929 to Helen and Walter Sales, Betty as she was known, graduated from Henry Snyder High School in 1947 and was married to her late husband Edward John Mahoney for 54 years.

Agnes is survived by her 4 children Timothy A. of Wesley Chapel, Florida, Brian P. of South Haven, Michigan, Margaret M. La Pooh and her husband Bryan of Allamuchy, NJ and Beth Anne and her husband Thomas Freeman of Verona, NJ. Agnes is also survived by her 7 grandchildren Siobhan Rose and Erin Grace Mahoney of Florida, John Tucker, Owen Edward, Gavin Anderson and Finnegan Thomas Freeman and Ava Elizabeth La Pooh from New Jersey and 3 step-grandchildren Joshua Bryan, Zachary Robert and Kailey Julia LaPooh.

Agnes was predeceased by her beloved husband Edward John Mahoney, 2 brothers, John (Jack) Sales of North Arlington NJ and Walter (Chick) Sales of Fanwood NJ and 2 sisters, Sarah (Sally) Christianson of Portland, Oregon and Helen Fitzgibbons of Saddle Brook NJ.

Agnes enjoyed an active social life, playing tennis and bridge and volunteering at Kurth Cottage at the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, New Jersey. Betty was a member of the Normandy Beach Yacht Club, Kensington Golf and Country Club in Naples, Florida, and a parishioner of St Luke’s Catholic Church in Ho-Ho-Kus, New Jersey and Saint William Catholic Church in Naples, Florida. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, Godmother and friend to all who knew her. She had a wonderful life.

Visitation will be held at D’Elia Funeral Home in Lakewood, New Jersey on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 from 10 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Her funeral service and interment will be at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah, New Jersey.
