Mary C. Jaramillo, beloved mother, devout Catholic, and cherished matriarch, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2024 in Denver, Colorado, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Mary Corine Ruybal on April 14, 1927, in Las Mesitas, Colorado, to Juan Bautista Ruybal and Sofia Ruybal. Her family later moved to Denver, where Mary spent the entirety of her rich and fulfilling life.
Mary graduated from West High School in Denver during the 1940s. It was in Denver that she met the love of her life, Benjamin Jaramillo, through a cousin of dad's while he was on leave. They quickly fell in love and began their journey together, raising their family in the Denver area.
As a dedicated homemaker, Mary found great joy in caring for her family. She was a pillar of faith and a devout Catholic, finding solace and community at St. Cajetan's and later Presentation Church and All Saints Catholic Church, where her faith played a central role in her life.
Beyond her commitments to family and faith, Mary had a passion for life's simple pleasures. She enjoyed her visits to Black Hawk, solved countless word search puzzles, and embarked on memorable journeys, including two pilgrimages to the Holy Land with Fr. Tomas. Every year, she eagerly anticipated her trips to Glenwood Springs, and for her 90th birthday, she fulfilled a lifelong dream by visiting Hawaii.
Mary's warmth and inclusivity touched all who knew her. She welcomed everyone into her home and heart, embodying the true spirit of hospitality. At every family gathering and every celebration, she lovingly sang Las Mananitas to her family, leaving an indelible mark of love and tradition.
Mary leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and family. Her life was a testament to the beauty of maternal love and the strength of familial bonds.
