Marjorie Ruth Stone was born on October 14, 1940 to James Irvin Barnett and Mary Katherine (Trzeciakowski) Barnett in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was the oldest of three children, all raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. She left Ohio and travelled to Tucson, AZ to attend the University of Arizona. She met Lewis Stone through her cousin, Pat. Lewis and Marjorie were married on August 28, 1959 in Tucson, AZ.
Lewis was drafted into the Army and Marjorie moved to Baltimore, MD to be with her husband. While in Baltimore, and early in their marriage, Marjorie and Lewis were bapitzed into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It was also in Baltimore that they had their first son, Roger. Lewis was discharged from the Army and the family of three moved back to Tucson, AZ, where they had their second son, Bryan. Marjorie enjoyed spending time caring for her young sons and husband.
Marjorie moved to Yuma, AZ with her husband and young family when he was transferring with the phone company. Yuma was far too warm and humid for the family's liking and Lewis and Marjorie needed to find something cooler and less humid, so with Lewis being employed by AT&T and able to go anywhere, the family moved to Colorado.
With their sons going on mission trips for the Mormon Church, Marjorie wanted to find something to help financially support their missions, but also allow her to be available to spend time with her sons when they were home. She found custodial work at the LDS Church Jewell Ward convienent for both needs. She also worked for Runyan Stevenson and Capitol Mortuaries as an evening custodian and spent years volunteering at the LDS Family History Center.
When Marjorie wasn't working or caring for her family she was crafting, canning and cooking. Marjorie loved to quilt and handicraft for family, friends, and the store in Temple Square in Salt Lake City. She loved birds, caring for plants, and several beloved fur babies over the years.
Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents and brother, James Edward. She is loving remembered by her husband of almost 64 years, Lewis; sons, Roger and Bryan (Maclovia Gonzalez); grandchildren, Rylie (Kate), Rachel (Nate Campbell), Sarah (Ben), Landon, Nathan, Sierra, Jenna, Joshua, and Samuel; great-grandchildren, Cambria, Ezra, Orion and Oliver; as well as, many nieces, nephews and extended family.
