William (Bill) was born on March 20, 1961, to William Harold Whitehair and Geraldine (Campbell) Whitehair in the Cleveland, Ohio area. Growing up in Madison, Ohio, Bill was an extremely talented athlete excelling in football, baseball, and his passion, wrestling. After graduating from Madison High School in 1980, he received a full scholarship to wrestle at Ohio University, ultimately earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Development from Colorado Technical University, and then an MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden Graduate School of Business.
Bill met the love of his life and future wife, Kathleen (Walsh) Whitehair, in 1976 at Madison High School, where they both attended. They were married on June 23, 1984, and went on to have three children: Tiffany Marie Ganer, Nicholas Allen Whitehair and William Wesley Whitehair. They raised their young family in the Cleveland, Ohio area until July of 1998 when the family moved to The Woodlands, Texas. This was to be near Hewlett Packard (Compaq) Headquarters, where Bill had been promoted to Vice President of Worldwide Sales Development for a new division called a-Services.
In July 2004, now Vice President of Sales for AT&T, Bill moved the family to Austin, Texas, where he fell in love with the hill country. There, he coached Pop Warner Football, Rec baseball, and Select baseball for his two sons. He adored teaching them and their friends the sports that he loved so much.
In May 2022, Bill and Kathy moved to their forever home that they designed and built together in Marble Falls, Texas. Bill was so proud of it and often joked that he never wanted to leave.
An avid golfer and a member of Lakecliff Golf Club (and previously Falconhead Golf Club), Bill and many of his friends were deemed the “Early Birdies,” teeing off at the crack of dawn every Saturday and Sunday. He had just returned from Whistling Straits, Wisconsin on Monday, September 11, 2023, where he spent four full days walking 18-holes per day and spending time with some of his dear friends. Bill has golfed all over the world, including St. Andrews in Scotland and has loved every minute of it.
Bill was looking forward to retirement and spending many hours on the golf course or at a beach relaxing next to his favorite person, Kathy. If Bill was not golfing, he was enjoying the beautiful views from his patio, swimming, spending time with his children and grandchildren, being a goof, telling funny stories, watching his favorite college team, THE Ohio State Buckeyes, traveling the world with Kathy, or scheming up his next big idea.
He leaves behind his cherished wife, Kathleen Marie Whitehair, his loving children Tiffany Marie Whitehair, Nicholas Allen Whitehair, and William Wesley Whitehair, his adoring grandchildren David Quinton Ganer,5, Charlee Ellis Whitehair, 3, Olivia Marie Ganer, 2, and Winifred Rose Whitehair, 7 months, his younger brother, Jeffrey Whitehair, and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
He was the patriarch, our rock, our shelter, a proud American, and an even prouder family man.
