Shirley Ann Hanson, 79 (née Strothman), a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, has been called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on December 4th, 2024. She passed away peacefully in Lakeway, Texas, (formerly from The Woodlands, TX).
Shirley’s life was a testament to faith, love, and selflessness. Her deep relationship with Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of all she did. She lived her life with a grace that touched all who knew her, her kindness, generosity, and strength like beacons that brightened the lives of those fortunate enough to be in her presence. She was the heart and soul of her family, and her boundless love for her children, Scott and Alisa, was evident in everything she did. One of her greatest joys was the special bond she shared with her grandsons, Brandon and Brett, and she was proud to be an integral part of their lives.
Beyond her family, Shirley made a lasting mark as a pioneering businesswoman. She founded and grew the largest privately-owned long-term care insurance agency in Texas, and in doing so, touched countless lives through her wisdom, guidance, and mentorship. Her legacy extends far beyond the numbers, as she was dedicated to empowering others, always willing to share her knowledge and offer a helping hand.
Shirley was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Sally Strothman, her husband of 40 years, John, her dear son, Scott, and her youngest grandson, Nicholas. She leaves behind a family who will carry her memory forever: her devoted daughter, Alisa Kura and her husband, Steve; her two grandsons, Brandon and Brett; as well as her stepchildren Tracy Cimo, Tamara Rowe (Carl), and Perry Hanson. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Carol (Strothman) Leister, her husband Chris, and their children, alongside nine treasured grandchildren.
Our family would like to express our deepest gratitude to Silverado Hospice and Shirley’s many caregivers for their unwavering support, with a special thank you to Alicia Ramirez, whose friendship and compassionate care were a gift to Shirley and our entire family.
Shirley’s Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 411 Ranch Road 620 South, Lakeway, TX 78734. We invite all those whose lives she touched to join us in remembering this extraordinary woman whose love and light will live on forever in our hearts.
