Robert Earl Davis made his victorious trip to Heaven to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at the age of 79 years. Bob passed at his home in Lakeway, Texas surrounded by his wife and children.
Bob was born to F. Earl and Lucy Mae Davis in Harlingen, Texas, in 1941. He liked to say that he grew up in simpler times where he and his friends would ride bikes all over town, took frequent trips to Padre Island, and cultivated lifelong friendships. After a few years of attending Harlingen High School, he went on to finish his high school education at Texas Military Institute (TMI) in San Antonio. From there, he attended The University of Texas at Austin and graduated with a Business degree. Bob’s early career in finance took him to Dallas, New York, and Houston before finally settling down with his family in Austin, Texas.
Since 1975, Bob’s path in life was guided by his faith in Jesus. He was originally brought to Christ by lifelong friend, C.G. “Butch” McCaslin, and thereafter, up until his final breath, he lived to serve the Lord. Bob never missed an opportunity to bear witness to others about Christ and the changes that our Lord made in his life once he handed it over to Him. His church homes included Berachah Church (led by R B Theme Jr.), Lawler Baptist Church, Bible Church of the Lakes (of which he and his wife Lyn were co-founders), and Austin Ridge Bible Church.
Bob was a devoted husband to Lyn for 42 years, proud father to Brad and Lacey, and adoring grandfather to Davis, Anna, Olivia, Weston, Heidi, and Tinsley. There was nothing that he would not do for his family, and they too, would have done anything for him. He led his family with faith, love, servitude, humor, and of course, lots of fun. Some of the family’s most treasured times together were at the “Ranch” near Florence, Texas and in the mountains of Lake City, Colorado. He thoroughly enjoyed jogging and ran in many races including the New York, Boston, and Dallas White Rock marathons. He also loved to bike and was especially proud of riding the MS 150 with his daughter Lacey. Bob’s other passions included quail and dove hunting, along with fly fishing for trout.
Bob’s joy in life was derived from serving others. He was truly selfless, optimistic, joyful (even in times of great hardship) and eternally caring. Bob was overwhelmingly sincere, outgoing, and funny, all traits that drew people to him from all walks of life. All who knew him felt blessed to have him in their lives, and undoubtedly all will forever carry special memories and stories of Bob.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Lyn; his son and daughter-in-law Brad and Heather Davis; his daughter and son-in-law Lacey and Tyson Moler; and grandchildren Davis Moler, Anna Moler, Olivia Moler, Weston Davis, Heidi Davis, and Tinsley Davis; his doting sister Patricia Lyle; his nephews Bryan Marsh and Bobby Marsh; and niece Betsy Ybarra. He is preceded in death by his parents F. Earl and Lucy Mae Davis.
Bob will be laid to rest in the Lawler Cemetery near Florence, Texas on February 27 in a private ceremony. A memorial service to celebrate Bob’s life will be announced at a later date. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Bob to Austin Ridge Bible Church or Bible Church of the Lakes to further the mission of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
