Karisa Bowman Johnson, 62, of Austin, Texas, passed away on Monday December 26, 2022 after her battle with ALS. She was born on June 3, 1960 in Austin, TX to Charles and Barbara Bowman. She graduated from Lanier High School in Austin. Karisa dedicated many years in training and education to become a Commercial Property Manager, spending more than 30 years in the Commercial Real Estate Industry. She was a past president of BOMA Austin, Texas BOMA, and the BOMA Southwest Region. Her many years of service to these organizations were recently honored with a Texas BOMA Advocacy Day scholarship fund.
One of Karisa’s biggest interest was Texas Tech athletics, specifically football and baseball. In a household full of Longhorn fans, she was always outnumbered, but would never shy away from her passion for the Red Raiders. Another passion of hers was spending time with family and friends. It would not be possible to count the number of hours she spent at a baseball or softball field or on the road traveling to the next tournament, but she treasured every minute watching her husband and youngest sons play the game they loved the most. Some of her most cherished friendships were made from the other wives and parents she spent all that time with on weekends. Karisa truly was a baseball Mom.
Karisa is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Barbara Bowman. She is survived by her husband Jay Johnson; son Cooper Johnson and wife Becca and granddaughter Charlotte; son Tyler Johnson; son Dustin Johnson and wife Cortney and grandson Paxton; and son Easton. She is also survived by her brothers Lindsay Bowman, and David Bowman.
The family would like to thank Tom and Sheryl Whitehead, Don and Margaret Dyer, Heather, Lisa, Heidi, and David Proctor for their overwhelming help and support during these difficult times. A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 8, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 411 Ranch Road 620 South, Lakeway, TX 78734. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Busby Foundation or The Journey Mate Support Program.
