John Wallace Madden

John Wallace Madden, 81, surrounded by his family, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2017 in Austin, Texas. Born in New Brighton on March 18, 1935, he was the son of James and Jule Madden. He married the love of his life, Mary Jane. Wed for over 50 years, together they had three beautiful children, Kim, Kelly, and John.

John was a great family man, loving and devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather (Pop Pop). He was a wonderful provider who loved God and had a huge caring heart. He loved to laugh and he inspired everyone he met. He shared so much of himself with his family and friends.

He was a graduate of Beaver Falls High School. He attended Duke University for three years on a football scholarship where he helped Duke win the 1955 Orange Bowl before being called to serve in the United States Army during the Korean War. He then earned a Bachelor of Science degree at Geneva College. He went on to accomplish a lifetime career in the electrical engineering industry with Westinghouse and General Electric.

John enjoyed and excelled in many different activities. He was an exceptional singer, well known and loved by everyone. He had a passion for all sports including: football, golfing, and snow skiing, camping and fishing. Some of his family's favorite memories were made on the many family vacations they took together. He was and will forever be his family's hero. His family and friends are so proud of him. The Lord blessed us to have him in our lives.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane, his children Kim and husband Scott Kingsley, Kelly Madden, John W. Madden II and wife Melissa Madden, his grandchildren, Scotty, Ryan and Kate Kingsley and Mason, Maren and Morgan Madden. His sister Juleann and husband Jack Wood, brothers, Jim and wife Lea Madden, and Jerry and Bunny Madden, along with many nieces and nephews.

A Rosary will be held at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Emmaus Catholic Church, 1718 Lohmans Crossing Road, Lakeway. A Reception to celebrate his proud and exceptional life will be held directly afterward at the Parish Life Center.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks to give memorial contributions to Emmaus Catholic Parish of Lakeway, Texas.

His family, with humble gratitude, acknowledges the outpouring of love from everyone who knew and loved this great man.
