Sgt. Maj. Franklin D. Jones (ret), age 70, lost his courageous battle with cancer and the effects of Agent Orange at 2:15 AM on February 15, 2015. Although he lost his battle with cancer, he was victorious in life.
Frank was a dedicated family man and is survived by his beautiful wife Peggy, his daughters Pam, Tracy and Becki, sons Dave and Jacob, and nine grandchildren.
He served with honor and valor in The United States Marine Corps for 28 years. His distinguished military career includes fighting in one of the longest and bloodiest battles of the Vietnam war, the Battle of Khe Sanh where he was a Sniper with the 26th Marines. His military service and courage were commemorated with two Purple Hearts, The Cross of Gallantry with a Silver Star, and two Presidential Citations just to name a few. When he retired from The Marine Corps he was proud to protect and serve as a member of the Inglewood Police Department for a number of years.
Frank got sober January 7, 1981 and remained sober for the rest of his life. He was a sponsor, mentor and friend to countless men and women who's lives will be forever changed by his steadfast influence and example.
He will be remembered for his quick wit, his love and commitment to friends and family, his love for our Country and his unique ability to inspire others to greatness. His leadership, loyalty and dedication to duty will live on in the lives of his family and friends forever.
The life of Franklin Dennis Jones, husband, father, grandfather and friend will be celebrated with a Memorial service at 2:15 PM on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at the Weed-Corley-Fish Lake Travis Chapel located at 411 Ranch Road 620 South in Lakeway, TX. The service will have a live video stream available for the many loved ones unavailable to attend.
There will be a private family service in Los Angeles on March 15, 2015.
Sergeant Major Franklin Dennis Jones (ret) will be honored with a military burial in Arlington National Cemetary this summer.
