It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William “Jay” Bennett, who went to his heavenly reward just days before his 86th birthday. Jay was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and businessman whose life was defined by love for his family and dedication to his work. He had a heart for leading people to the Lord and took great pride in mentoring young employees, teaching them not only the skills to work effectively but also the values to live purposefully.
Jay leaves behind his beloved spouse, Jo Ann Bennett and four children: Reva Harper, Donald Bennett, Nancy Reigle, and Richard Carl Bennett. He was preceded in death by his son James Robert Bennett, his parents, and his three sisters.
Family was the cornerstone of Jay’s life. He delighted in spending time with his children, often taking them hunting or buggy riding in the woods. He was happiest at family gatherings, where he could be surrounded by his eight grandchildren—Jeffrey Choquette, Clint Harris, Robin Johnson, Karrie Kimberly, Melanie Boone, Chandra Bennett, Brianna Bennett, and the late Bethanie Bennett—and his great-grandchildren— Addison, Cameron, Chantilly, Devin, Dylan, Hannah, Jaiden, Kolton, Lillian, Logan, Mariah, Miley, Mollie, Sabrina, Savannah, Tyler.
A hardworking and friendly man, Jay installed countless windows and doors throughout Palm Beach County, where he made lasting connections and was well-respected in the community.
The services to honor Jay’s life will be held on Saturday, December 7th, at Dorsey - E. Earl Smith Funeral Home and Lake Worth Memory Gardens. The schedule is as follows: viewing from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, the funeral service beginning at 2:00 PM, and the committal ceremony starting at 3:00 PM. Pallbearers will be Mariah, Devin, Dylan, Kolton, Jaiden, and Tyler.
Jay will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and friends.
