Born April 24, 1939 in West Palm Beach to the late Louis C. and Zelia M. (Phillips) Smith, Sandra was a graduate of Palm Beach High School class of 1957, where she painted the “Wildcat” logo in the gym.
Throughout her life, Sandra enjoyed playing cribbage and poker and was a long time participant of a bowling league. She was an avid fisherwoman and enjoyed traveling, especially to mountainous regions. She loved being on and in the water and also enjoyed painting and other artistic endeavors.
While raising her family, Sandra volunteered at both the Pine Jog Environmental Center and the Science Museum where she lead nature hikes and cared for animals. She later worked in the banking and insurance fields.
Sandra is survived by three children Alex Stevens Jr. (Stephanie) of West Palm Beach, Debbie Allenbach (John) of West Palm Beach, and Jeanine Petterson (Jim) of Denver, CO; a sister Gloria Peters (Mike) of Sebring, FL; seven grandchildren John Jr, William, Katherine, Claire, Alex III, Caroline, and Jack; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Gathering on Saturday January 27 from 3-4pm at Dorsey-E. Earl Smith Funeral Home, 3041 Kirk Road, Lake Worth. Celebration of Life Services will follow at 4pm at the funeral home. A Celebration Reception will follow the services.
