Born in Brooklyn, New York, Rosemary was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was known for her generous spirit, strength, and unwavering devotion to family and faith.
She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony DeMatteis and was predeceased by her sister, Margaret Polce.
She is survived by her sister, Evelyn Coletti; her three cherished daughters, Roberta, Diane, and Toni Ann; her five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Rosemary’s family was the heart of her life, and she leaves a legacy of love and togetherness that will endure across generations.
Rosemary’s life was marked by a deep connection to her seasonal home at Fiume Bello, a small bungalow colony in the Catskills that she and her husband founded on March 12, 1976. She looked forward to celebrating Fiume Bello's approaching 50th anniversary. This special place brought together friends and family, even inspiring future unions in marriage. Rosemary’s warmth and hospitality made her home a welcoming refuge for friends, neighbors, and loved ones alike, and her gatherings were filled with laughter and love.
A skilled seamstress and dedicated homemaker, Rosemary poured her talents into creating beautiful crochet blankets and garments, sharing these heartfelt creations with family and friends until her final days. Her industrious and resilient nature, paired with her kind and open heart, left an indelible impression on everyone she met.
Rosemary was a woman of faith, baptized in the Roman Catholic Church and devoted to the Blessed Mother. Her spirituality was a source of strength and comfort, guiding her life with purpose and compassion.
A visitation for Rosemary will be held Thursday, November 14, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave, Union, NJ 07083.
A funeral mass will be held in her honor at St. Genevieve’s Church, located at 200 Monmouth Road, Elizabeth, NJ 07208 Friday, November 15, 2024 at 10 AM.
There will be a gathering for family and friends on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 from 10:30am - 12:30pm at Dorsey-E. Earl Smith Funeral Home, 3041 Kirk Road, Lake Worth FL 33461. A Committal service will follow at 1:30pm at the South Florida National Cemetery 6501 FL-7, Lake Worth, FL 33449.
