Richard was born, and grew up in Middleborough, Massachusetts. Later, with his wife Jeanne, he moved to Florida to raise his family, but he always remained a New Englander at heart. In his early years he worked at Boutwell Dairy and as a volunteer fire fighter for Trail Park Fire District 7. He then became employed as a professional fire fighter achieving the rank of Captain prior to retiring, after 25 years of service. He was highly respected by so many in both his personal and professional life. Humble, witty and genuine, were words often used to describe him.
Together with his wife and children, Richard built a mountain home in Blairsville, Georgia. His children, grandchildren, and extended family, all cherish memories of spending time at the family cabin. After his retirement, Richard and his wife traveled for many years across the country RVing. They particularly enjoyed time with family and friends in Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, and Maine.
