Kenneth Whitmore, known to friends as “Ken,” passed away on February 4, 2020, at the age of 73. Originally from Honeoye Falls, New York, Ken joined the Air Force and served during the Vietnam conflict as an airplane mechanic, honorably serving from 1966 to 1969 at the rank of Sergeant. After his service he continued to work as an automotive mechanic, working hard to support his wife and four children. In 1991 he was hired by the Town of Jupiter and retired 23 years later in 2014. Throughout his life he dedicated himself to his family, friends, and work. Despite long hours and travel, he made it a point to try and not miss any of his children’s and grandchildren’s events. He was a fixture at the soccer field, football field and horse shows. Always encouraging not only his own children and grandchildren, he touched the lives of many other kids through his happy go lucky attitude and cheering. Co-workers could always depend on him for his wisdom and a joke. He was affectionately known as Dad by his fellow employees in the town’s Public Works. At his retirement party he was not only honored by the Public Works but also by nearly every department in the town. As he did in life, he will surely keep everyone on their toes with his quick wit in heaven. Ken was preceded in death by his parents Gabe and Edna. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Karen, son William, his three daughters, Tina (Steven), Christina (Richard), Heather (Ricky), his four siblings, Edward (Sally), Bruce (Diane), Kathryn (David), and Neysa. He will also be lovingly remembered by his five grandchildren, Cynthia (Samiam), Jesse (Kalea), Shane, Elizabeth, and Keighley. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A private ceremony will be held for family. Those who so desire may make memorial donations in memory of Ken to the Lung Cancer Research Foundation (lungcancerresearchfoundation.org).
