On Wednesday, October 2, 2024, John Merrell Simmons passed away at the age of 72 years. John had a strong belief in Christianity & was a proud member of the 82nd Airborne from 1972-1973. He was a long time resident of West Palm Beach, Florida. He also resided in Oregon, California, Arizona, Rhode Island and New Hampshire experiencing many areas of the country. John will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Shauna Lewis, son-in-law Bill Lewis, granddaughters Tristin, Teagan & Talia Lewis, mother Rosanne Simmons, sister Kathleen Boardman and brother-in-law Marc Boardman. He is predeceased by his father John Paul Simmons & grandmother Ann Livingston.
John spent most of his professional life in the commercial construction industry where he worked as a chief estimator with several local firms. He was involved in many large projects around West Palm Beach and the surrounding areas.
An avid sports enthusiast growing up he participated in baseball , football , track, tennis & rugby. As an adult he owned and raced under JS Racing with his 914/6 Porsche in the Florida Region SCCA for a number of years. Becoming the GT2 Champion in 1999 & 2000. John will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
