JoAnn passed peacefully at her home in Lake Worth, FL, on Sunday, September 22, 2024. She took her final breath, surrounded by her husband of 52 years, David, and her twin daughters, Stephanie and Tracy.
Although she never wanted to be defined as “having cancer,” she put up the strongest fight for her life battling Leukemia.
JoAnn received her Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of South Florida, graduating class of 1972. She and David married on December 18th, 1971, and gave birth to their daughters in August 1976.
JoAnn taught English for 42 years and retired from Park Vista High School in May 2020. Despite her passion for teaching, her greatest joys were her two Westies, Maddie and Jasmine, supporting the Jacksonville Jaguars and USF Bulls and spending quality time with her family: Stephanie and her husband, Ryan Gilbert of Lake Worth, Tracy and her husband Bryan Sussman of Boynton Beach, and her grandson, Oliver Sussman.
The family invites you to celebrate her life this Saturday, September 28th, 2024, at Dorsey - E. Earl Smith Funeral Home, 3041 Kirk Road, Lake Worth Beach, Florida, 33461. 11 a.m. visitation, 12 p.m. Service and Eulogy, Reception to follow.
