Phyllis Noreen Lackey

Phyllis Noreen Lackey, age 90, of Lake Odessa went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 in Ionia. She was born on March 03, 1923 the fifth child of eleven to Bernard and Bernice (Spaulding) Scheidt. Phyllis was a 1942 graduate of Lake Odessa High School. She married Lawrence Lackey January 26, 1944 in Lansing, MI. Phyllis spent 37 years working for the D&C store and Lake O Variety in Lake Odessa. When not working Phyllis was an avid reader and spent many hours crocheting afghans and lap robes to be donated to local hospitals or nursing homes. Family and friends will miss the warm smile that always greeted them when visiting her. She will be dearly missed by: children David Lackey, Noreen Steward, siblings Marvel Bessmer, Roger (Bev) Scheidt, Ardene Lackey, Peggy (Jim) Rider, grandchildren Heather England and Brian (Raz) Steward, great-grandchildren Brooke England, Britny England, Addison Steward, Emmerson Steward. Preceded in death by: parents, husband, siblings Donna Besko, Barbara Busch, Marian McVay, Richard Scheidt, Gretchen Farrell, Donald Scheidt and son-in-law George Steward. A Celebration of Phyllis's life is planned for November 2, 2013 at Lakewood United Methodist Church 10265 E. Brown Road, Lake Odessa MI, 48849 at 12 noon.
