Julie Nelson

Julie Nelson, 67, of Lake Odessa passed unexpectedly on Thursday, January 23, 2020.  Julie was born on March 12, 1952 in Grand Rapids to Robert and Joanne (Kuikstra) Rider.  On June 25, 1971 she married Richard Nelson and he survives.  Julie was an active member of Central United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed life on the lake to the fullest, swimming with grandchildren, teaching them to ski and evening cruises around the Lake with Richard.  Julie was a very selfless person always putting others first and absolutely adored her grandchildren. 

She will be dearly missed by:  husband Richard, children;  Mike (Samantha) Nelson and Melissa (Dan) Fisher, grandchildren; Audrey and Kevin Fisher, Cain Nelson; siblings; Robert “Skeeter” Rider and Sandy Rider-Shepardson, in-laws; Linda(Bill) Sweers, Tom (Dala) Nelson, Pat Shea, Scott Nelson, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding her in death are: her parents Robert and Joanne, in laws Robert and Nellie Nelson, and birth father Burt Voorhees.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 27, 2020 at Koops Funeral Chapel from 2pm until 4pm and 6pm until 8pm.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday January 28, 2020 at Central United Methodist Church at 11am with burial taking place in Woodland Memorial Park, Woodland Township.  In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Central United Methodist Church.  Online condolences can be left at www.koopsfc.com
