David was born to James and Eunice (Good) Patrick on April 21, 1939 in Freeport, Michigan. He attended the Darby School and graduated from Lake Odessa High School in 1957. He married Eleanor Jean Carter on June 15, 1958.
Dave enjoyed farming for about 30 years. He also worked at Saranac Milk Company, was a parts man for John Deere in Caledonia and then worked at General Motors Diesel Equipment in Grand Rapids. After 25 years with General Motors, he retired in 1991. Dave then recycled metals for 22 years. He had the best post-retirement job. He loved what he was doing and so appreciated his scrap metal clients and the friendships that developed over the years.
Dave attended the Lake Odessa Grace Brethren Church.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Denise “Dede” Hawkins; his parents, James and Eunice Patrick; brothers Marvin Patrick and Alvin Ray Patrick; sisters, Alice Richardson and LaNora Keith.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor of 57 years; his children, Susan (Dan) Thornton, Ryan (Heather) Patrick, Randy (Lynn) Patrick and Amy (Mark) Swift, son-in-law, James Hawkins; 19 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mel Trotter Ministries, Grace Brethren Church Missions or Clarksville Fire and Rescue.
A time for family visitation at Koops Funeral Chapel will be on Sunday February 07, from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. The funeral service for Dave will be held on Monday, February 8, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Kilpatrick United Brethren Church, 10005 Barnum Road, Woodland, MI.
