Betty was born June 9, 1938 in Belding, Michigan. As a devout Roman Catholic, she cared for family and community alike. Her fondest desire was to be a mother and share her faith with those she loved. She was blessed with seven biological children and gained an additional seven through marriage to her beloved husband, Manuel. Being an avid reader, natural songstress, and gifted musician led to many entertaining family experiences. Her ability to feed an army was her most under-appreciated talent. She enjoyed nature, small towns, picnics, and her John Deere tractor. Her green thumb was often used to resurrect plants deemed lost causes by others. Praising other’s efforts with positive words produced the desire to accomplish more and her ready smile made people feel at ease and loved beyond measure.
She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Violet Quillan (McCambridge); siblings Michael Quillan, Kay (George) Chase, Coleen (Bud) McCain, Joanne Quillan; and stepson Daniel Gutierrez. She is survived by her husband, Manuel; two sisters Shirley Wood and Jeannie (Bob) Hiliker; her biological children Robert (Kathy) Kohn, James Kohn, Lynda Dalrymple, Greg (Alicia) Kohn, Melissa (Randy) Reigler, Jennifer Kohn (Steve Miel), Christine (Ryan) McCarty; and stepchildren Mike (Judy) Rodriguez, Vicky Rodriguez, Michael (Chris) Gutierrez, Becky Gutierrez, Kathy and Ramona Rodriguez.
She leaves behind an amazing legacy of twenty-two grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren with another soon to arrive!
In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty's name can be made to the Catholic Foundation of West Michigan for Youth and Young Adults. https://catholicfoundationwmi.org/ways-to-give/
