Ronald Charles Borel, age 66 passed away surrounded by his close family on May 11, 2018 at Methodist Hospital in Houston, TX. He is preceded in death by his first born son, Micah Shane Borel, his parents DJ and Ida Borel, and two brothers; Buddy and Put Borel.
He was born on July 5, 1951 in Lake Charles, La to Dolza “DJ” and Ida (Templeton) Borel. He married his love Kathy Rambin, on April 22, 1977 and they have two children together. He was a graduate of Westlake High School class of 1969. Ronnie was an extremely talented craftsman. His life’s work was building custom cabinets and woodwork. He was owner and operator of Borel’s Cabinet Shop.
Ronnie was an old soul with the kindest heart. He was an astounding father, grandfather, and husband. He had a love for music and the wild turkey, his passion was hunting them. He loved being surrounded by nature whether it was fishing, hunting, camping, or observing the elements; he felt at peace doing the things he loved. He spent many of his days playing his guitar and signing songs. He enjoyed the simple quiet life. He loved Sunday dinners and spending time with his grandchildren and teaching them the ways of the good life.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Kathy Borel; two children; son Scott Borel and wife Serena, daughter Becca LeLeux and husband Jordan; 5 grandchildren, 2 brothers David “Mooshie” (Trevelyn) Borel and Gerald Borel, 3 sisters; Betty Hall, Mary “Peaches” Benoit, and Linda Borel, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on May 19, 2018 at Hixon’s Funeral Home in Westlake, LA. Visitation is from 10:30-2:00 followed by a rosary and services at 3:00 pm.
The Borel family would like to extend their gratitude to the nurses and doctors in the ICU at Methodist Hospital in Houston, TX for their attentiveness and loving care to Ron in his days present there.
