Early Monday morning, October 19th, a kind, gentle and serving soul went with angels to be in the presence of our Lord. Paul G. Hannen lived his life’s mission “to leave his little piece of the world a better place…”
Paul served others throughout high school, college, military service, and career. He was an active Rotarian serving as president and other positions. He was a business owner of Snelling and Snelling Personnel and Preferred Staffing Services. He was currently employed at Hannen and Associates, the oldest employee at the age of 86.
Paul was very involved in AA starting in 1980 until the time of his death. He shared his experiences with many and recently celebrated his 39th year of sobriety. There are many people in recovery that Paul helped with their battle of addiction and are walking testimonies to his involvement and care for others. His service to others would be his greatest legacy and would be one of his proudest moments.
Paul’s life was one of making a positive impact on many, starting with his family.
Paul is survived by his wife, Kitty Crowe Hannen; his daughters, Paula Abshire (Kenny), Kellie Onxley (Randy); and his son, Kevin Hannen. He is also survived by his extended family, Scott Crowe (Lori) and Dawn Crowe and his 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren whom he loved very much.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Dottie Hannen, his oldest son Brent Hannen, his parents Paul and Hazel Hannen.
The Recovery House at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, Lake Charles, is a project close to Paul’s heart.
In lieu of flowers, donations to this project in Paul’s memory are greatly appreciated.
Services will be Thursday, October 22, 2020 at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. Visitation is from 12:00pm until 1:00 pm followed by a Memorial Service at 1:00pm where Minister Seth Donald will officiate.
