He was born on October 16, 1932 to parents Julian and Ernestine Collins in Opelousas, LA.
Nathan lived in Lake Charles for over 30 years and was a member of the Catholic faith and would worship at St. Margaret Catholic Church where he was an usher. He was a loving and caring father who enjoyed bringing his family together. He would host and organize the family gatherings and was the patriarch of the Collins family. He was so full of life and love. He enjoyed fishing, bingo, bowling, and travelling. Nathan retired from the Department of Defense and served in the Air Force for several years.
He is preceded in death by his parents and all 12 of his siblings.
Those left to cherish him memory are his two sons Anthony J. Collins and Craig M. Collins; his two daughters Cheryl A. Collins Lemelle and husband James and Gia S. Collins; a host of nieces and nephews; 11 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.
A visitation will be held at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles on Saturday February 5, 2022 beginning at 10 am until the time of service. A Christian Burial will begin at 1 pm on Saturday February 5, 2022 led by Fr. Harry Greig. Burial will immediately follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. His service will be Live Streamed from Facebook.com/JEHixson.
