Novella was born November 20, 1935, and grew up in Grand Prairie, LA. She married the love of her life, George Thomas DeVillier at the age of 18 on October 18, 1953. They enjoyed 63 years together traveling, hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with family and friends creating wonderful memories. Novella was a lifelong member of St. Margaret Catholic Church.
She leaves behind her four children. Jenny (Don) Powell of New Iberia, LA; Keith (Cindy) DeVillier of Lake Charles, LA; Kim (Mark) Savant of Moss Bluff, LA; Craig (Stephanie) DeVillier of Katy, TX; ten grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Thomas DeVillier, parents Luke and Effie Vidrine, sister Paranell O’Fleurity and brother Jerry Vidrine.
The family will welcome relatives and friends at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles, LA on Monday, September 18, 2023 with visitation beginning at 8:00 am continuing to the service at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery in Lake Charles, LA
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Amedisys Hospice Care for their compassionate and loving care provided, especially nurses Stephanie Simon, Heather Lopez and Linzy Miller.
No words can express the gratitude and appreciation for the care provided by staff of Sage Oak in Lake Charles. Nurses Jasmyne Melendez and Amy Burks were exceptionally caring and loving towards our mother, treating her with such kindness and compassion. Chef Will Cornigans was extremely special to mom, taking the time to cook specially prepared meals with consideration of her diabetes. The entire team at Sage Oak was outstanding and we could not have placed mom in a better assisted living home. We are forever grateful for their love.
