He was the great great grandson of Jean Vileor Theriot, the first settlers of Chenier Perdue. He was a member and usher of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was an Army Veteran. He was a retired Bus Driver of the Cameron Parish School Board, worked 25 years for South Cameron Memorial Hospital, and worked part time for Water Works District 7. He was a member of the Drainage Board District 4, Cattleman Association, Farm Bureau, and the Knights of Columbus 3014. He also enjoyed cooking, spending time with his grandkids, horseback riding, and for many years he especially enjoyed alligator hunting. His family said he was a great storyteller.
Survivors include his sons, Brien Theriot and wife, Sherrie of Creole, Ken Theriot of Creole; daughters, Ann Theriot and friend, Joe Nunez of Creole, Pat Theriot of Creole, Jan Lalande and husband, Gabe of Creole; sisters, Virgie Ann Nunez and husband, Curtis of Creole, Ouida Boudreaux of Creole; grandchildren, Kerry Derouen of Welsh, James Duhon of Creole, Jason and Jaron Theriot of Creole and Jancy Lalande of Creole. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Mary Helen Theriot; parents, John Whitney and Mary Wilmer Theriot and brother-in-law, Patrick Boudreaux.
His funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Creole. Father Tim Goodly will officiate. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles on Friday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and will resume at the church on Saturday at 9 a.m. til time of service.
