Ella was born in Mamou, LA, on April 17th, 1935. She was an amazing woman, the kind that is truly a rare find in today’s world. She was a dedicated and honorable wife and mother who raised two children with love and tenderness. Her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren always felt loved in her presence. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, sewing, and Gospel & Country music. She also loved watching golf and baseball on TV. She was very close to her sisters Nell and Betty. Her love for the lord showed in all she did and especially so in her last days on earth.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her children David (Carlene) Fontenot and Sharon Kay Fontenot Woods; Grandchildren David Ross Fontenot and Andrew Fontenot, Kayla Robbins (Jacob) and Joshua Woods; Greatgrandchildren Alivia Robbins and Garret, Kaylynn and Kamille Woods. Brothers Hersey, Jerry and Leon (Debbie) Granger, Sisters Nell Leger and Betty Granger, Sister-in-Law Ana Rae Granger (Wesley) and a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved very much.
She was preceeded in death by her husband Albert Chester Fontenot, her parents Odette and Deus Granger, and her infant sister Linda. Also her brother Wesley and her sister-in-law Linda Granger (Jerry).
The family would like to thank the staff at Grand Cove specially her nurses Kayla, Monica, Rianna and Mandi; all her caregiving ‘Angels’; Brighton Bridge hospice and all medical staff, family and friends who tended to her spiritual comfort and health needs.
A rosary will be held at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles , Saturday at 6:00 PM. Visitation begins Sunday at 9:00 am followed by a Service at 12:00 noon. Private burial to follow.
