Eldie was a great and loving mother who lived her life with no complaints. She had a zest for life, and tremendous love for the Lord. She loved playing cards. Dancing was her passion and brought her much joy and happiness. In her younger years she enjoyed softball and tennis. Throughout her life she worked in many capacities including bookkeeper of the family businesses, Cheramie's Seafood and Dee's Daycare. She worked as a local writer reporting Cameron news for the Cameron Pilot. She also worked at Cameron State Bank, as a Civil Service Officer, and a clerk for the Cameron Hotel. Eldie spent her retirement loving life, family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Cheramie, parents, Hilaire Hebert and Alta Richard Hebert, sister, Betty Savoy, brother, Richard Hebert, and son-in-law, Marlon Keith Miller.
Those left to cherish her memory are her six children, Brent Cheramie, Myra Rutherford and husband, Jerome, Toni Boudreaux and husband, James, Theresa Miller, Stephen Cheramie and wife, Daleen, and Angela Theriot and husband, Donald; brother, Claude Hebert and wife, Vernie; fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Rev. Babasino Fernandes will officiate. Burial will follow in Our Lady Star of Sea Catholic Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2-9 p.m. Tuesday with a Rosary at 6 p.m., and will resume at 8 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday.
