Dorothy was born and raised in Lake Arthur until marrying her sweetheart, Melvin. They raised their family in Lake Charles. She was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church and Christ the King Catholic Church. Dorothy was a Nurse's Aid for many years and retired from W.O. Moss Regional. Dorothy loved sewing, embroidering, growing flowers, but especially cooking and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Edna Ortego Crader, sister Marie Allemand, brothers, Lee Allen, Alfred, and Leo Crader, and grandchildren Gabriel Guidry and Jacob Smith.
Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 57 years, Melvin P. Guidry, Sr. of Lake Charles; daughter, Sabina Henry of Issaquah, WA; son, Paul Guidry, Jr. and wife, Sarah of Vinton; son, Terry Guidry and Francine, daughter, Edna Guidry McDaniel and husband, Dwayne, son, Stephen Guidry and wife, Veronica, and son, Donnie Guidry and Jennifer all of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Courtney Newman, Christie Guidry, Josh McDaniel, Sadie McGuire, Lauren Guidry, Bryce Guidry, Gavin Guidry, Gabrielle Guidry, Cody Bass, Casey Bertrand, Thomas, Wesley, and Cody Smith; a brother, Charles Crader and wife, Joan of Jennings; 21 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, February 19, 2021 at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. A Rosary will be begin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Visitation will resume at 8:00 a.m. until time of service on Saturday.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Lake Charles. Reverend Sam Orsot will officiate services. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery.
