Lake Charles - Bonnie Joyce Miller passed from this earthly life on December 7, 2012 at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital in Houston, TX surrounded by her loving family.
Bonnie was born to William and Hazel Barber in Leesville, LA on September 17, 1940. She had the opportunity to live in many places while her husband, Paul served in the U.S. Air Force. They settled in Moss Bluff, LA after Paul's retirement in 1977. Bonnie worked with the Calcasieu Parish School System for many years offering remedial teaching for the Leap tests and volunteered for many activities with her church and community.
The most important things in Bonnie's life were her church, faith, family and friends. She was a member of Moss Bluff Methodist Church, Young at Heart, Jo Boese Circle, Kappa Sorority and Steel Magnolias. She loved to cook, read, work crossword puzzles, watch Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, travel, play pokino and above all be surrounded by her family and friends.
She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Paul Miller of Moss Bluff; daughters, Paula Gaspard and husband, Danny of Lake Charles, Lisa Miller of Dallas, TX and Missy Burns of Springfield, MO; son, Mark Miller and wife, Romy of Sulphur; (15) grandchildren, Candace, Chris, Jeff, Michelle, Andrew, Justin, Jennifer, Alexandra, Bonnie Grace, Matthew, Meagan, Laura, Ethan, Victoria and Gabrielle; (13) great grandchildren, Arielle, CJ, Brenna, Caleb, Brianna, TJ, Caden, Jadyn, Abby, Macie, Landon, Aubrey and Rynn. She also had numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Hazel Barber and three sisters, Betty Taylor, Billie Mathis and June Benoit.
Her funeral will be at 10am on Monday, December 10, 2012 at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles with burial at Ebenezer Cemetery in Hicks, LA. Visitation for friends and family will be from 3pm-8pm on December 9, 2012 at Hixson Funeral Home and will resume from 8am until service time.
