Bettye Sue Welch Reon, 89, passed away peacefully at home on December 15, 2022 surrounded by her family. Born December 5, 1933 to Lucien Welch and Elsie Eldora Smith of Glenmora, La. She married her soulmate, John Cecil Reon, on December 24, 1953.
A business college graduate, she managed Plumbers and Pipe Fitters and Ed Godwin of Lake Charles until becoming a stay-at-home wife and mother. She spent the last 32 years on their country estate, where she enjoyed gardening and fishing with her children and grandchildren.
She was a long time member of Singer Baptist Church. Her love of the Lord shined through her. She was a caring and nurturing person who showed unconditional love to all. Her smile and laughter warmed the hearts of those who knew her. She was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Her family was her heart.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Jack Welch and Mary Ellen Stanfield; son, Randy Reon; and grandchildren, James Crawford and Emma Grace Reon.
Survivors include: her husband, John Cecil Reon; son, Greg Reon; daughter, Karen Crawford and her husband Patrick; daughter-in-law Rhonda Reon; grandchildren, Vanessa Reon, Cody and Opal Reon, Trista and Brian Lee, Jonalan Reon, Ryan Reon and Ashley DeFries, Lauryn Alopogianis and Christopher Reeves, Rali and Mark Bertrand, Randy Jr. and Courtney Reon, and Brittany Crawford; and great-grandchildren, Raegan Reon, Zion Reon, Kalen Alopogianis, Cadence Durham, Hunter Kral, Remy Reon, Kingston Bertrand, Harper Reon, Marlee Dickerson, Emery Reon, Euri Crawford, Cypress Reeves, Drew Reon, and Mason Reon; and great-great-grandchild, Major Reon.
The family will welcome the public for visitation on Tuesday December 20, 2022 at J. E. Hixson & Sons Funeral Home from 10am until time of funeral service at 2pm. Interment will follow at Sallier Cemetery in Lake Charles, LA.
