He was the first of four children, born in Peoria, Illinois on December 26, 1960, to John and Gloria Moore.
As a young boy, John enjoyed spending time with his beloved grandmother, Mary Flexer.
He was a great big brother who always looked out for his younger siblings, Dave, Keith, and Karen. He became an avid drag racer and loved tinkering on his Cutlass Supreme and Z28. He passed his love of classic cars onto his daughter, Chauntel.
John was proud to be an Air Force Veteran, earning several decorations and awards. While stationed in Idaho as a machinist, he became adept at working with his hands, a skill that gave him joy and a career throughout his life.
Later in life, John met Bunni. They shared 17 wonderful, adventurous years together. They loved traveling with the family, weekend getaways nestled in nature where John could fish, playing with their dogs Jerry and Dusty, but their favorite pastime was just hanging out in the yard and gathering friends and family at the firepit.
John was a humble, hardworking, compassionate man who always showed up for his loved ones. John always spoke his truth, never leaving one to question where he stood. He will be deeply missed by his friends and family.
Left to cherish the memory of John are his wife, Bunni Moore; children, Chauntel Moore and Craig Moore, step-children, Lindsey Clem, Maddie Clem, and Megan Clem; granddaughter, Khaleesi Farris; step-grandchildren, Natalie Grant and Madden Clem; siblings, Dave Moore, Keith Moore (Carey), and Karen Maddox (Todd); many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
A celebration of John's life will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 4pm at his favorite place, his backyard firepit.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in John's name to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
