Lamar was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in LaGrange, KY. He retired from Valspar after almost 40 years in industrial coating sales. He was skilled in woodworking, with a passion for making reproductions of classic childrens' toys and Shaker items that he sold at the LaGrange farmers' market and at art shows. He also enjoyed being a member of the Railroad Museum and the Cowboy Posse.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Gregory Scott Heavrin, and six siblings.
Lamar was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Ellen, and a cherished father to his son, Christopher Heavrin (Beth) and daughter, Melissa Wassing (Paul). He took immense pride in being a grandfather to five grandchildren and a great-grandfather to two great-grandchildren who brought endless joy to his life. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret Mould.
A mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 502 N 5th Ave, LaGrange on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at 10am with burial to follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery in PeWee Valley, KY. Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 from 4-8pm with a prayer service starting at 7pm at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home, 706 W Jefferson St, LaGrange.
