Virginia Smallwood

Mrs. Smallwood was born January 21, 1927 in LaGrange, daughter of the late Jake “J.T.” Keel and Lena Loftin Keel. She was a member of Baptist Tabernacle Church and was employed by West Point Stevens before retiring. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin W. Smallwood, and two daughters, Lt. Patricia P. Owens and Jimmie M. Washburn.

Survivors include her daughter, Dana Dodd; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Marianne Smallwood; 14 grandchildren including Terry Perry with whom Mrs. Smallwood was living with; 21 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 P.M. Thursday, October 15, 2015 in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with Dr. Mike Reeves officiating. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery. The gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday evening from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
