Mr. Maddox was born August 20, 1939 in Manchester, GA, son of the late Robert Lester Maddox and Cornelia Inez Shoemake Joyner. He was a devoted member and Deacon of Stovall Baptist Church. Sherry enjoyed hunting and was an avid NASCAR fan, with a collection of memorabilia. He dedicated many years to spreading the gospel through music and singing with his wife. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, William Edward Joyner; step mother, Polly Maddox; son, Eric Lynn Maddox; brothers, Robert Paul “Pat” Maddox and Ricky Maddox.
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Doris Eloise Maddox; son, Robert “Dinky” (Imogene) Maddox; grandchild, Sky (Jeff) Rudbeck; great grandchild, Breanna (Jon) Woodward; great great grandchild, Willow Woodward; sister, Sue (Donnie) Wilbanks; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The Gathering of Family and Friends will be Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 5:00pm until the Celebration of Life Memorial Service at 6:00pm in the Striffler Hamby Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Aaron McCollough and Rev. Bobby Bozeman officiating.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Stovall Baptist Church in memory of Sherry L. Maddox.
