Ruth was born September 24, 1950 in Houston, TX, daughter of the late Jesse Woodrow Caldwell and Linnie Olivia Hill Caldwell. She was a faithful member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church where she once enjoyed teaching Catechism. During her earlier work tenure, she worked as a cosmetologist and retired as a Postal Clerk with the United States Postal Service. Ruth was a loving wife to her late husband, James Leo Darden and loved spending time with all her family that meant so much to her. She enjoyed playing Bingo, the Lottery and Keno. Ruth loved sewing, crafts, hummingbirds, butterflies and her continuous cup of coffee. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Caldwell; and sister, Judy Honiker.
Survivors include her son, Kenneth (Cindy) Darden; daughter, Teresa (Rodney) Knott; grandchildren, Kaison (Alex) Dunkel, Olivia Mitchell, Hunter (Heidi) Mitchell, Breanna Mitchell, Tabitha Smith, Jamie (Amber) Smith, and Allie Knott; great grandchildren, Jasolynn, Emmitt, Zoie, Sophia, Gabriella, Emmie, Ian, Emberlyn Grae, and Axton; special blessings, Oakland and Lakeland; siblings, Betty, Charles (Molly), Paul, Kay, Jesse (Debra), Nancy (Monty), Billy (Angie); sister-in law, Nina; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The Gathering of Family and Friends will be Wednesday, November 2, 2022 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be 11:00am Thursday, November 3, 2022 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Father Tim Gadziala officiating. The Entombment will follow in Restlawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
