Mr. Brown was born March 14, 1945 in Griffin, GA, son of the late Howard Brown and Elizabeth Cargile Brown. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division. Mr. Brown was employed with Low Temp Manufacturing Company as a welder and foreman, retiring after 30 years of service. He attended Mercer University College where he studied music and later served as the minister of music at Vineyard Baptist Church, Griffin, GA; Grace Baptist Church, Griffin, GA; New Hope Baptist Church, Milner, GA; and Providence First Baptist Church, Williamson, GA before retiring.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Akin Brown; three daughters, Michelle Brown (Steve) Elston, Pam Brown Arnold, and Barbara Brown (Jeremy) Pirtle; grandchildren, Michael (Andrea) Elston, Adam Elston, Zachary (Sierra) Arnold, Sadie Arnold, Matthew Pirtle, Sarah Elston, and Chloe Pirtle; great grandchildren, Waylon Arnold and Kylee Elston; sister, Brenda Brown (Howard) Kelley; sister-in-law, Helen Akin; nieces and nephews, David (Lagene) Akin, Susan Akin (Allen) Vaughn, Alan Akin, Eric (Amanda) Kelley, Belinda Kelley, and Sue Baker.
The gathering of family and friends will be at Haisten McCullough Funeral Home, 1155 Everee Inn Road, Griffin, GA on Friday, December 22, 2017 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Graveside memorial service, with military honors, will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 27, 2017 in Oak Hill Cemetery, Griffin, GA with Reverend Arthur Jett officiating.
