She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Kenneth Gibson.
Marilyn was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She retired from LaGrange Daily News, her first and only job, after 45 years of service. She loved horses, “window” shopping, flowers, and spending time with her family. Retirement consisted of yearly beach vacations with coffee overlooking the ocean as well as sitting on her front porch in her red swing.
She is survived by her sons, Brian (Candi) Gibson and Clint (Tiffani) Gibson; grandchildren, Ashlyn Gibson, Kaylin Gibson, and Skyler Gibson; brother, Lewis (Gay) Davis Jr. and sister, Ann (Danny) Murray; life-long friends and co-workers, Gail Thrash and Suzie Garrison; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held 5:00 P.M to 7:00 P.M. Friday, December 29, 2023, in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary in LaGrange, GA. The Funeral Service will take place at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 30, 2023, in the Chapel as well. Interment will follow at Western Baptist Church Cemetery on Mooty Bridge Rd.
