Mr. Harper was born September 23, 1957 at West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange, GA to the late Jimmie Merle Harper and Beulah Bea Toney. Jimmy was a certified welder and worked at numerous LaGrange plants for most of his adult life, most recently working as a technician at Milliken & Company for the past 16 years.
Jimmy was a kindhearted man who was deeply loved by all who were fortunate enough to know him. His kindness extended to every stranger he met, including stray animals, of which he cared for several. A lifelong lover of country music, Jimmy's greatest joy included spending time with his favorite people, sharing stories and laughter, while listening to his favorite songs. Jimmy was a charismatic storyteller who will be remembered for his great big smile, his talent for orchestrating hilarious pranks, and his larger-than-life personality.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his daughter, Valerie Dawn Harper. Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Jennifer Harper and husband, Kristopher St. Clair; granddaughters, Harper St. Clair and Frances St. Clair; fiancé, Kathy Duran and Kathy's daughter, Bonnie Duran; other relatives and countless friends.
The Gathering of Family and Friends will be Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with Reverend Jimmy McMillian officiating. A graveside service will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
