I still think about Frank and miss his sweet calls. I loved him dearly and know that I will see him again someday. He was a good man who treasured his family and friends.                                    Janyce Westerman

Kay, I still wait for Frank’s delightful calls. They always left me feeling happy. I vividly remember his last message. Frank was such a good friend throughout the years—also a good husband, father and American, who bravely served his country. I am lucky that he chose to be my buddy. I loved him dearly. Call me. I miss you, too.

There is no shortage of fun Frank stories and I always looked forward to the next one. 

Not sure I’ll ever know what he saw in me but always carried with me the fact that Frank thought so highly of me. Honestly, was terrified to let him down or that he may learn otherwise. 

Frank had a way of seeing potential in people and beauty in things that were sometimes overlooked by others. He was hardworking, determined, creative, resourceful, and always able to think outside the box to solve a problem. There wasn’t anything that couldn’t be fixed with duct tape or an obvious ‘broke’ sign if needed.

The absolute sweetest Frank story was his relationship with hummingbirds. He knew the secret to their hearts (Hawaiian Punch) and his birds loved him.  Will know you are paying us a visit anytime I see a hummingbird.  Until then, rest in peace Mr Frank!

Dear Kay and family, Frank and I were classmates at Parrottsville High School, and we remained dear friends all these many years. We talked often, and I never failed to received a Christmas card. When I spoke to him recently and later wrote him a letter, I did not know that he would be leaving us so soon. Funny, sweet and kind, Frank always remembered his classmates and wanted to know how they were doing. He dearly loved my father, who was his principal and coach. I will miss Frank’s calls and hope to stay in touch with his beloved wife. He was so proud of his children and grandchildren. The little country boy from Parrottsville showed us how to live a good life. He was special.

Frank was and is my very best friend.  I met Frank in Okinawa in 1972.  He and I have had many memorable hunting and fishing trips and just hanging out together through the years since I have known him.  He was like a brother to me and was always there regardless of the circumstances.  We spent many happy weekends at the hunting camp in Cusseta.  We would hunt all day, and in the evening Frank would cook and I would eat.  Meals consisted of all the leftovers being mixed together with pork and beans, for filler, Frank said.  We talked, either in person or on the phone, almost every day for around 50 years, an enjoyable habit that will be hard to break.  He was a true Marine, who guided, protected his Marines and led by example.  All who knew him respected him.  Our three sons, Scott, Brad and Dale considered him as their Uncle.  He and I partied, got drunk together, and loved to gamble (he always won at cards) and scratch lotto tickets.  I loved him and will be lost without him.  He was Best Man at our wedding as well as Best Man I ever knew.  Thank you for being my friend and for being there.  He loved to buy from thrift stores and modify items to fit his needs, like cut the toe off boots if they were too short, cut the top off boots if they hurt his corn, and cut the sleeves off shirts if he was out of toilet paper.  The modifications went on and on because Frank believed in getting great deals by buying low then modifying to fit himself or to fit me.  The hunting camp is loaded with many treasures that were great deals.  He was always on the move from one place to another, and I was always called upon to help load, drive and unload their belongings at least six times.  I would do it all over again if I could just be with him.
