Mr. Seals was born September 12, 1930 in Jackson, MS, son of the late Louis Joshua Seal and Matilda Willie Seal. He was a graduate of Central High School in Jackson, MS, Millsaps College in Jackson, MS with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, George Washington University in Washington, DC with a Master’s degree in Business Administration, and received his Law Degree from Illinois Institute of Technology.
Mr. Seals served in the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War as a Sergeant First Class, and then the Army Reserves as a Second Lieutenant. After his military career, he worked as a railroad yard worker and later as the Director of Industrial Engineering for Southern Railway, Department of the Army, and Trans Union Corp. Mr. Seals also taught Undergraduate business courses at Troy State University and LaGrange College and was a practicing attorney from 1973 until 2007. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #16 in Hamilton, GA. In addition to his parents, Mr. Seals was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Adair Wells Seals.
Surviving family members include his daughter, Ann Seals Morrision of Augusta, GA; son, Bill Seals of LaGrange, GA; step sons: Descombe Wells, III of Atlanta, GA, Tom Wells of Florida, and Charles Wells of Florida; and grandchildren, Sarah Emily Colley and Erin Malone Colley, both of Augusta, GA and Paedon Mackenzie Akhawala of LaGrange, GA.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 25, 2014 in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with The Reverend R. Allen Pruitt officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery. The gathering of family and friends will be on Thursday from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
