Mr. Calhoun was born February 1, 1939 in Roanoke, AL, son of the late Charlie Calhoun and Nellie Singleton Calhoun. He was a member of the former Southwest LaGrange Baptist Church until it closed and was employed with Milliken and Company, Hillside Plant, for 43 years before retiring. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Stewart Calhoun, son-in-law, Lamar Costley, and two sisters, Mary Nell McWhorter and Shirley Espy.
Survivors include his daughter, Debbie Costley; step daughter, Lisa Stewart; granddaughter, Michelle Willingham; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Marci and Josh Long; grandson-in-law, Alan Willingham; great grandchildren, Riley Willingham, Brody Willingham, Mallory Long, and Maddox Long; sister, Elizabeth Edmonds; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life graveside service will be held 12:00 P.M. Friday, December 1, 2023 in Shadowlawn Cemetery. The gathering of family and friends will be on Friday from 10:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. at the funeral home.
Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to West Georgia Hospice in memory of Mr. David Ray Calhoun.
