Mr. Kerby was born June 10, 1917 in Perry, FL. He was the son of the late Albert Clifton Kerby, Sr. and Eula Weaver Kerby. Reared in Perry and Gainsville FL, he was a graduate of the University of Florida. He was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and was a member of the basketball and baseball teams. During the summer months he played semi-pro baseball in Georgia.
In 1942 Mr. Kerby joined the Army Air Corps. He served as a Special Services Officer and was discharged in 1946 with the rank of Captain. After World War II he was employed by the Florida Board of Education. In 1948 he married Anne Britt Arnold and moved to LaGrange. Mr. Kerby served as director of Industrial Relations and Personnel with Callaway Mills and also served as Vice- President and Manager of Callaway Educational Association. In 1968, Mr. Kerby served with Milliken and Company as corporate personnel director for LaGrange area plants. After his retirement in 1982 he continued as a consultant for four years.
Mr. Kerby was a member of the First Baptist Church on the Square where he served at one time as Associate Superintendant of Sunday School and served two terms as Chairman of the Deacons. He was a member of the Pilot Sunday School Class and Merrymakers. He also actively involved in the community where he served three terms on the LaGrange City Council and was a member of the School Board for ten years. He also served on the Board of Directors for the LaGrange Chamber of Commerce; the LaGrange United Way; the LaGrange Personal Aid Society and the American Red Cross. Mr. Kerby was a Commissioner and Vice Chairman of the LaGrange Housing Authority; on the Executive Committee of West Georgia Council for the Boy Scouts of America. He was President of the Georgia Parks and Recreation Society and was inducted into its Hall of Fame. He was Vice President of the Georgia Amateur Athletic Union. He was also a member and past president of the Lions Club, where he received the Melvin Jones Award.
Mr. Kerby was preceded in death by his wife Anne Arnold Kerby. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Jane and Buddy Adamson, a grandson and his wife, Rob and Ellen Adamson, a granddaughter and her husband Betsy and Johnny Garlington, and six great grandchildren: Garris, Anne, Emily, and Carolyn Adamson and Mary Britt and Trey Garlington

Services for Mr. Kerby will be at 2:00pm Saturday, February 13, 2016at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Chapel with Dr. Paul Baxter and Pastor Cade Farris officiating. Gathering of family and friends will be one hour before service 1 until 2pm.
