Gwenevere Gwen "Gwen" Miller

A loving Mother, Grandmother, Mamoo, Great-Grammie, Sister, Aunt, and Friend, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center after a long standing battle with many chronic illnesses. Gwen was born in Colchester, VT on October 15, 1926 to Walter and Gwendolyn Lawrence. She married William “Bill” Miller on Sept. 29, 1946 in Huntington Park, CA, and moved with Bill and her In-laws to Devore, CA where she lived until 1995. Gwen then resided briefly in Flagstaff, AZ, later moving to Santee, CA, in Sept. 1996, where she resided until her death. Gwen was preceded in death by her husband of forty-five years, William “Bill” Miller, and her father Walter Lawrence and Stepmother, Mary Ruth Lawrence.Gwen is survived by her daughters Sharon Sigwardt and husband Pete Sigwardt of Katy, TX; Susan Evans and husband Michael Evans of Lakeside, CA; and Patricia Stanton, “Adopted daughter” of Santee, CA. Gwen enjoyed and cherished her Grandchildren Mandy Watson and husband Darren Watson of Magnolia TX, Michael McKinney of San Diego, CA, Scott McKinney of Lakeside, CA, and Michelle Bigelow and husband Justin Bigelow of Dallas, TX. She loved to spoil Great grandchildren Brendan and Stephen Watson of Magnolia, TX at any opportunity. Gwen is also survived by her sister Sheila Louise Chapman of Kittery Point, ME and numerous nieces, nephews, and many close friends who knew her as Mom, Grandma, and Mamoo as well!Gwen stayed active all of her life, working before retirement as a janitor, and later volunteering for several years as a Guardian Angel Grandparent in the NICU at St. Bernardine’s Medical Center and then later at Alvarado Medical Center in the pharmacy and Labor and Delivery. She participated for years in the PTA, American Legion Auxiliary, and with the Resident’s Association at Mission Gorge Villas Mobile Home Park.
