Connie was born in Newark, NJ, the first child of Pasquale Fazio and Giacinta Carmela Gattozzi Fazio. She grew up in Fall River, MA, where she worked from a young age in her father’s store, The Macaroni Shop on Bedford Street. She was a graduate of Durfee High School and achieved a certificate at a business college.
On August 16, 1958, Connie married the love of her life, Duane E. Buck, and after a month-long honeymoon, they relocated to Hawaii, where Duane was stationed for 6 years with the US Navy. Connie often referred to their time in Hawaii as their 6-year honeymoon. All four of their children were born in there.
The military took Connie and Duane briefly back to the East Coast (Norfolk, VA) before they were stationed in San Diego, in 1967. They remained there for the remainder of Duane’s military career. After Duane retired, he and Connie moved to Sedona, AZ, in 1990. Connie was the wife of a model railroader, and they traveled all over the United States going to conventions and being life members of the National Model Railroad Association. They formed life-long friendships all over the country.
Duane passed away in 2017, after which Connie returned to San Diego to live with her beloved daughter, Donna, and her family. She took great joy in being surrounded by her loving family until the day of her death.
Connie was preceded in death by her father, Pasquale Fazio; her mother, Carmela Fazio; her husband, Duane Buck; her sister, Gloria Machado; and her brother, Joseph Fazio. She is survived by her children, Stephen J. Buck, Duane A. Buck (Sherri), Donna E. Wilson (Sean), and Lori A. Buck (Christina), by her grandchildren, Daniel S. Buck (Alicia), Jaclyn N. Rivera (Martin), Jessica L. Livorsi (Mitchell), Katherine R. Kimble, Duane A. Buck, Jr., Theresa L. Buck, and Anna L.
