Ruby was born in Hattieville, Arkansas Ruby Ann Roberts in 1942 to James Gresham Roberts and Treddie Eunice Roberts (Hall). Ruby’s favorite past times included reading the Bible, singing church hymns, and gardening. She completed school at Wonderview in Arkansas then went on to work at a Timex watch making company for a short time, worked as a beautician for many years at a beauty shop in Little Rock, Arkansas, her final work years were at Windsor Door Company creating garage doors until her retirement in 2007. Ruby was always very active in her church community at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Conway Arkansas as well as other churches that she would attend over the years.
Ruby was preceded in death by two daughters, Belinda and Angela Burnett, her parents James and Treddie Roberts, two brothers Jimmy and Roy Roberts, niece Dina Roberts, her first ex-husband John Burnett (father of the two daughters), and her husband Sammy Herring.
Ruby is survived by sister Mary Edwards, nephews Monty and Robert Edwards, nieces Anita Fraga, Betty Hoffman, brother Danny Roberts, nephew Tommy Roberts, niece Ann Roberts, daughter Samantha Pedraza, son-in-law Leandro Pedraza, three grandchildren Leandro (Leo) Pedraza III, Laura and Elizabeth Pedraza, sister-in-law Rosalee Roberts, nephew Michael Roberts, sister-in-law Sue Elkins, nephew Gary Vaughn, and numerous other relatives.
Ruby lived a very eventful life saying her real life was more interesting than any movie or fiction story. We will keep Ruby in our thoughts, prayers, and in our hearts as a legacy of determination in the face of unbelievable odds. Enjoy your new heavenly home, Ms. Ruby Herring!
A visitation for Ruby will be held Friday, October 27, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM with a prayer service 7:00 PM at Heavenly Grace Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 26873 N. White Ranch Road, La Feria, Texas 78559. A chapel service will occur Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 10:00 AM following a burial at Heavenly Grace Memorial Park.
