Born on November 7, 1951 to Richard "Dick" Lowery and Anna (Gladle) Lowery, Rick grew up in Beaverville, IL with a passion for life and adventure. He attended Donovan High School, where he not only excelled academically but also made his mark on the golf team. His love for the game endured throughout his life, providing him countless hours of enjoyment.
Rick proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he distinguished himself as a sharpshooter and was awarded the Medal of Honor for his bravery and dedication. His military service shaped him into the courageous and principled man he became, and he carried the values of honor and integrity throughout his life.
After returning home, Rick settled in Corpus Christi, where he raised his family with love and devotion and made lifelong friendships. He cherished the time spent with his children and created lasting memories filled with laughter and joy. He later moved to Harlingen, TX where he met is special friend and love, Mary Zamora, along with many friends whom he considered family.
An avid golfer, Rick often found solace on the greens, where he enjoyed the camaraderie of friends and the thrill of the game. He had a passion for karaoke, lighting up the room with his voice and infectious spirit. His interests extended to gardening, where he found peace in nurturing plants and working on his yard, as well as fishing, which allowed him to connect with nature and unwind.
Rick was also a dedicated fan of the Dallas Cowboys, proudly cheering for his team through every season. His love for antiques led him to restore various pieces, each with a story that reflected his appreciation for history and craftsmanship.
Rick is survived by his loving children, Rachel Weir , Heather Garcia, Andrea "Annie" Lowery and Ryan Lowery, his grandaughter Madison "Madi" Winters whom he held special to his heart, his 14 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Also and his cherished friends who were like family. He will be remembered for his warm heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering spirit.
Rick is preceded by his parents Richard and Anna Lowery, his brother Jerry Lowery, and his sisters "DeeDee" Lowery and Wendy Stoops.
A memorial of Rick's life will be held on October 5, 2024 from 12PM- 3PM with Military Honors at 2PM at Heavenly Grace Funeral Home, 26873 N. White Ranch Road, La Feria, TX 78559. A Celebration of Life will be held at Texas Rose in La Feria, TX fro 5PM -10PM to celebrate with great friends and karaoke. Come dressed in your Western Wear!
