Miguel is preceded in death by his wife, Elida M. Torres, his father, Miguel Z. Torres; his mother, Maria C. Torres; and his brother, Jose “Pepe” Torres.
Miguel is survived by his sons, Michael (Cynthia) Torres; Javier Torres, and David Torres; his four granddaughters Cassandra (Luis) Zuvieta, Sarah Torres, Felicia Torres, Anna Torres and two great-grandchildren Elayna Kay Zuvieta and Noah Michael Zuvieta. He is also survived by his brother Jesse (Rosa) Torres.
Miguel, who was also affectionately known as “Mike” or “Uncle Mike” is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews.
Miguel attended elementary school in Santa Maria and attended La Feria High School where he graduated in 1962.
His work experience included working at Norlanders‘s Grocery Store in La Feria. After moving to Houston, he was employed at Hugh’s Tools in addition to assisting with his parents’ tamale and barbacoa store in Houston. After returning to the valley, he delivered bread for Butterkrust in the San Benito area for many years. After leaving Butterkrust, Miguel became self- employed and worked for numerous banks and car dealerships until his retirement.
Miguel’s hobbies included fishing, hunting, and sports. His favorite pastime was attending all his children and grandchildren’s sporting and school events.
There will be a visitation for Miguel at the Heavenly Grace Funeral Chapel on Sunday, May 7, 2023, from 4:00p.m.-9:00p.m. with a Celebration of Life service at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Monday, May 8, 2023, at 10:00 am at Heavenly Grace Funeral Chapel with a burial to take place at Heavenly Grace Memorial Park.
