It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mario Loya, a beloved friend, comedian, and beacon of hope, who left us on November 1, 2024 at the age of 66. Mario was a remarkable individual whose generous spirit and infectious laughter touched the lives of everyone he met.
Born in 1957, Mario was no stranger to adversity, having faced his own challenges throughout life. Yet, he embodied the essence of resilience and optimism, always finding the silver lining in any situation. He believed in the power of community and was dedicated to helping others, drawing from his own experiences to uplift those around him. Whether offering a listening ear or a helping hand, Mario was a steadfast supporter and a source of inspiration.
An avid fan of scary movies, movie nights were filled with laughter and good-natured teasing, creating cherished memories with friends and family. His humor was a gift, effortlessly transforming even the darkest moments into opportunities for joy. Mario had an uncanny ability to make people laugh, often with a perfectly timed joke or a playful prank, reminding us all to find light in our lives.
Mario's optimism and zest for life attracted a wide circle of friends who will forever treasure his memory. He had an extraordinary talent for connecting with people, making everyone feel seen and valued. His laughter was contagious, and his spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of all who knew him.
He is survived by his siblings Oralia Romero, Jose Maria Loya, Paula Albrat, Micaela Pulin, and Francis Bustamante, and his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will honor his legacy by carrying forward his spirit of kindness and joy. Mario’s light may have dimmed, but his impact will shine brightly in the lives of those he touched. Mario is preceded by his parents Merced and Emilia Loya and Gabriella Covarrubias.
Rest in peace, dear Mario; you will be deeply missed, but your laughter will echo in our hearts forever.
