Lois was born in Brainerd, Minn on April 13, 1935 to Bert and Hazel Hawkinson. After growing up in Nisswa, Minn., she moved to St. Paul and worked at KSTP -TV when television was just beginning to go on the air. She met and married Donald Rock and had two children. She later worked at a wholesale giftware company. Her special hobbies were sewing and she made many beautiful quilts that she would donate and give to friends. She loved square dancing, traveling, and especially being with family and friends. She loved and was greatly loved by all who knew her. In 1994 she married Jim Gentz and they moved to Harlingen.
Lois is survived by her daughter Sharon (Ted) Kogler, and son Jim (Mary) Rock, grandchildren Mike Kogler, Josh (Laura) , Jeremy (Kendra) and Jake (Alicia) Rock, 5 great grandchildren, and a very special friend Idalia Huerta. She was preceded in death by her husband Jim Gentz, her parents Bert and Hazel Hawkinson and three brothers, Jerry, Don, and Dick Hawkinson.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 22 at 11 a.m. at First Methodist Church in Harlingen. Interment will be at the Veterans Cemetery in Mission where her ashes will be with her husband Jim.
